Guan Yin Bodhisattva
Guan Yin , also translated as “Guangshiyin”, stands on the left side of Amitabha Buddha in the Western Pure Land. As the saying goes, “Every family has Amitabha, every household has Guanshiyin”. This shows the importance of Guanshiyin Bodhisattva’s existence and the concept in Buddhism.
Guan Yin Bodhisattva is a symbol of compassion and wisdom in Buddhism. The Bodhisattva has an extremely important position in both Mahayana Buddhism and in the Saha world . The spirit of great compassion led by Guanyin Bodhisattva is regarded as the foundation of Mahayana Buddhism. According to the Buddhist scriptures, Guan Yin is a manifestation of a past Buddha, in the immeasurable land, who vows to eradicate the sufferings of all living beings.
The Guan Yin Bodhisattva processes vast selfless compassion. Whenever sentient beings encounter difficulties and sufferings, if they sincerely praise and recite Guan Yin Bodhisattva, they will be salvaged by the Bodhisattva. Guan Yin Bodhisattva is a symbol of great compassion who will bless everyone in overcoming obstacles and eliminate illnesses. Under the Bodhisattva’s blessings, those who are fortunate will become more brilliant while those who are not will overcome obstacles and disasters more readily. A lifetime of happiness, peace and auspiciousness can thus be achieved.
Guan Yin Bodhisattva readily adapts to the needs of sentient beings. In catering to different beings’ needs, the Bodhisattva manifests in various forms and uses expedient methods. Guan Yin Bodhisattva takes great compassion and kindness as its virtue. It is said that whenever the sufferers chant Guan Yin Bodhisattva’ name, the Bodhisattva will always be there in time “to save all living beings from the sufferings”. Guangshiyin’s existence is universal.
